Investigation of combined electrical and mechanical stimulation on osseous cells

Description

Electro-mechanical stimulation of osseous cells may have a relevant effect on implant integration and on hard tissue regeneration. This project aims to investigate the influence of combined electrical and mechanical stimulation on the proliferation and differentiation on osseous cells.

Approach

  • Development and validation of an in vitro test system for combined electrical and mechanical stimulation
  • Cellular and molecular biologic analysis of combined electrical and mechanical stimulation effects on human osteoblasts and osteoclasts
  • Identification of optimal stimulation parameters
